		<description>Granite is not extracted by using dynamite. Most quarries use a diamond wire to cut the blocks from the site or they drill every 8 to 12 inches and break the block out.  If they were to blast the stone, the blocks would be rendered useless due to all of the fissures that are inherent to the material.

After a quarry is closed the land is reclaimed by its natural vegetation and there is little damage to the surrounding areas.  Unlike other mining practices (coal or sulfur ect.) there isn&#039;t any toxic runoff that leaches into and contaminates the ground water.  

The landscape is permanently altered, however, It is not destroyed as some people elude to.  

I have visited numerous quarries in Brazil and also have a degree in Environmental Geography focusing in Natural Resource Management.  

Please do your own research but do not be tricked by people trying to market their products in a green manner.
